This man in the US ran what you can reasonably call an ‘experiment’ at the wheel of Ford Maverick Hybrid.
The idea was to test the truck’s MPG under heavy use.
The experiment went well but there was another problem.
As ever, the internet notices everything.
The MPG of this Ford Maverick Hybrid was incredible
A man in the US loaded his red Maverick Hybrid with an incredibly large, long stack of lumber.
The load extended significantly past the vehicle’s short 54.4-inch cargo bed, putting immense strain and leverage directly on the tailgate structure and making the truck significantly heavier.
In order to counterbalance the extra weight, the owner drove 30 minutes on the highway at a cautious, steady pace of roughly 60 mph.
Which is a good idea, because if you’re trying to save gas, steady pace is what you’re looking for.

The result spoke for itself as the truck managed to return an impressive 32 MPG.
So far, so good.
But people in the comment sections saw something else they didn’t like.
The internet backlash was over something else
The experiment was shared by the truck owner in a Facebook post that’s since been taken down.
The problem wasn’t the MPG, which no one debated or doubted, but the haul itself.
Several commenters noted that the load lacked external support and wasn’t properly bundled into a rigid block to prevent individual boards from slipping out.
They also pointed out that it relied on far too few tie-down straps.

The bed in a Ford Maverick Hybrid is 54.4 inches long, meaning the lumber clearly needed more truck bed than was available.
Whether we like it or not, that is simply the nature of the internet.
No matter what you share online, you can be certain of three things.
One, someone will claim they have done the same but better; two, someone will swear what you did or said was fake; and three, if you were factually inaccurate or made a mistake in general, someone will know and will tell you exactly why.
