A US police officer built up an upside-down Chevy Camaro racecar, creating a muscle car that has been dubbed a ‘Frankenstein creation.’
The remarkable car was spotted 12 years ago, having been built for the 24 Hours of LeMons race, and no, that isn’t a misspelling of Le Mans in France.
The 24 Hours of LeMons is a parody of the famous endurance race, with cars costing no more than $500, and amazingly, this bizarre muscle car creation falls into that category.
While race teams around the world love to stretch the rules as much as possible, this certainly takes that to a different level entirely!

How was this Camaro racecar created?
The police officer had to do some clever thinking in order to create the Chevy Camaro racecar.
They took a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro body and then teamed it with a 1990 Ford Festiva chassis.
The Camaro was then inverted, making it look as if it had gone upside down and was defying gravity.
As such, the roof of the muscle car is now the base of the car.

The chassis of the Ford Festiva had become the cockpit, and it must have led to several confused looks at LeMons.
But from a distance, it did genuinely look like a Camaro had flipped itself upside down.
The 24 Hours of LeMons is all about having fun
The car perfectly sums up what the 24 Hours of LeMons is all about.
This policeman has also built cars for it in the past.
One of the previous builds was a car constructed from a 1956 Cessna light aircraft.
Amazingly, the upside-down Camaro successfully completed test runs and has performed well.
It truly did defy the laws of physics, it would appear.
Entry to the endurance race costs $1,775, and then there are all the vehicle expenses that go with it.
Yet compared to what you would spend trying to race at the real Le Mans 24 Hours, it’s a lot cheaper!
We don’t think that the idea of an upside-down racecar will catch on anytime soon, though.
But we would have loved to have seen how this Chevy Camaro got on.
