US YouTuber finds junkyard filled with 100 rotting cars

An American YouTuber who discovered a 22-acre junkyard filled with 100 classic cars decided to try and set things right.

Real Steel Fabrications became aware of the junkyard thanks to an ad on Facebook Marketplace.

The junkyard’s owner was looking to sell around 100 cars from the lot.

Inside the junkyard full of 100 classic cars

The cars in this junkyard are mostly obscured by the surrounding woods, and have been swallowed up in nature.

Thanks to decades of neglect, they have severely rusted.

In the yard is a whole host of cars from the 1930s up to the 1990s.

Among them is a second-generation Chevrolet Camaro and a second-generation International Scout.

It’s a shame that these cars have obviously not seen love for a while, as many still hold a torch for them.

One Camaro, that was in much better shape, was discovered on Facebook by a 85-year-old who had fond memories of driving the car back in the 1980s.

The host gets particularly excited when he sees a first-generation Plymouth Valiant.

This Mopar attracted its fair share of criticism for its unusual design, but it definitely gets points for boldness with its horizontal fins.

It was one of America’s first compact cars when it hit the scene in 1960, remaining in production until 1975.

Finding a diamond in the rough

There’s also a Studebaker Lark among the junkyard’s haul.

These were produced from 1959 to 1966, when Studebaker was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.

The Lark would turn out to be their saving grace, as it kept them afloat and inspired the Super Lark, America’s first compact muscle car.

As impressive as these finds are, they’re certainly not as rare as this Mercedes concept pod which was uncovered in an Atlanta junkyard.

With brands like Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge all being represented in the yard, it would be a tough call to choose just one to take home.

Ultimately, the host went with a Mazda B2000 truck, and decided to make that his project.
