If you’re looking to buy a new Škoda, you can head to your local dealership, or you can open up your laptop and head to their new Amazon showroom.

The Czech carmaker is the first European brand to join forces with Amazon to make a digital showroom that displays cars in real time.

The online showroom will let interested potential customers browse the full Škoda range from the comfort of their own home.

How cool is that?

Škoda has joined forces with Amazon to launch its online showroom

There’s no denying that the internet has made buying cars a much easier process.

From online auction sites, like SBX Cars, where you currently bid on Shaquille O’Neal’s Dodge ‘Shaqcat’,to Facebook Marketplace, where you can find some weird and unusual rides, finding and buying a car has never been simpler.

Now, Škoda is adding to that by launching its online showroom on Amazon, where you can browse the range, check stock levels at local dealerships, book a test drive, and explore your finance options.

“Online browsing and research are part of everyday life, which is why we’re so excited to launch the Škoda showroom at Amazon,” said Škoda director Matthew Bowden.

“It gives prospective customers more opportunities to find their next car and see where it’s available, all from the comfort of their home.”

Sales will still be made in person, for a good reason

While the online showroom does most of the functions you’d get at a real-life one, you can’t actually use it to make a purchase – you’ll still need to use a local dealership for that.

And there’s a good reason for this – research carried out by Škoda found that 82 percent of us still value in-person interaction before buying a car, while 78 percent think a test drive is an absolute must before you agree to a new motor.

Although almost half (47 percent) value carrying out some online research before buying a new car, which is where the Škoda online showroom comes in.

“It’s a ‘click to drive’ experience that combines the best of digital convenience with the reassurance of face-to-face dealership support,” the marque explained in a press release.

The Škoda Amazon showroom is now live at amazon.co.uk/skoda – or it can be accessed via the Amazon app.
