A couple from Washington bought a pair of Chevy Camaros as teens with plans to restore them, but things didn’t quite work out like that, and the cars have been parked for 25 years.

The husband owns a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, while his wife has a 1979 model.

Both cars were purchased when the couple were teens, but after driving around in them for years, they were put away with hopes of one day being restored.

Fast-forward a couple of decades, and the cars have been sitting literally gathering dust, so the couple is now looking for a new home for the Camaros.

The two Chevy Camaros have had just one owner

It’s always heartening to see a classic car get the loving restoration it deserves, like this fire-damaged 1972 Ford Mustang that was brought back to life, or this barn-find early 1980s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II that took a lot of time to get road-ready again.

So here’s hoping that this duo of vintage Chevy Camaros ends up with someone who can put the same time and effort in.

The listing on Craigslist explains that the one-owner cars were very much loved, but due to shifting family priorities over the years, a restoration was never started.

“Even though our life circumstances have changed, we genuinely hope that the new owners will cherish these cars and create new memories, just as we did in the past,” he wrote.

So, what have we got?

First up, the husband’s 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that he bought when he was just 19.

It comes with its original 327 small block engine and has had its transmission upgraded to a Turbo 350 automatic.

The car has been parked for 25 years, so he pointed out they ‘will require a complete overhaul inside and out’.

He also noted that the 1968 model had ‘typical rust areas around the rear wheel’.

The second car is his wife’s 1979 Chevrolet Camaro that was given to her as a birthday gift when she was just 16.

Much like the 1968 model, it’s been stored for more than two decades and, as such, will need a total ‘overhaul, rebuild, and restoration’.

He’s selling the Chevy Camaros as a pair and it could make a neat little project for someone to get stuck into.

Designed to rival the Ford Mustang

Launched in 1966, the Chevrolet Camaro was designed to compete with the ever-popular Ford Mustang.

And it’s safe to say it was a huge success for Chevy.

The Camaro had four distinct generations before its original production run ended in 2002.

However, the nameplate was revived for a concept car that later became the fifth-generation Chevy Camaro.

Production ended for the second time in 2023.

Over its run, Chevy has built more than five million Camaros – including the two that are currently in Washington looking for a new home.
