The Royal Oak watch is one of the hottest in the world right now – it has been for some time – and Audemars Piguet has done everything it could to monetize the frenzy.

After the much-talked-about Offshore Black Panther launched a few months ago, Audemars Piguet has now introduced another hype-friendly Offshore model called the ‘Music Editions’.

Inspired by a music equalizer, the Royal Oak watch dial is covered in multi-colored gemstones.

There are five models in total, and they’re all beautiful and colorful.

And pricey.

But we’ll talk about that in a second.

Why do they call it the ‘Music Editions’?

There are five different pieces available, three 43 mm models and two 37 mm models, and all five feature rainbow-colored gemstones on the dial.

The same rainbow colors have been used for the Royal Oak iconic octagonal bezel for the gold model, whereas the ceramic and titanium pieces feature a black bezel and a titanium one respectively.

These gemstones are actually designed to look like mixing console faders and to top it all off, each watch is available with four interchangeable mosaic-patterned rubber straps.

So… how much for the Royal Oak watch?

The first thing to know is all five models are made using precious metals.

There’s an 18k white gold model, available in 37 mm and 43 mm, a titanium model, also 37 mm or 43 mm, both limited to 500 units.

And then lastly there’s a black ceramic model.

This one is only available as a 43 mm piece and is limited to 250 units.

Prices start from around $32,000 for the titanium model, whereas pricing for the other two models is upon request.

The 30k price tag isn’t exactly what you’d call pocket money but the biggest issue, should you want one, is that it is going to be difficult to find one at retail.

These wathces are almost always immediately sold out and after that, buyers become sellers and try to flip them for a profit in the pre-owned market.

So, stay tuned for the inevitable markups.
