Van Cleef & Arpels is now hiding secret watches inside its bracelets

French jewelry and watchmaker Van Cleef & Arpels is now hiding tiny watches inside its bracelets.

Each bracelet features two colored stones, the larger one of which hides a fully functioning timepiece.

Part of the brand’s signature Perlée collection, the bracelets are made of gold and adorned with a myriad of tiny beads.

Each end of the bracelet features a stone available in different colors.

You can have it in red, blue, black or you can even opt for the diamond-studded one.

The diamond-studded version contains 68 rocks for a combined 1.53 carats.

As for the larger stones, each one is different.

The blue one, for example, is Lapis Lazuli while the black one is Onyx.

The white is one is Nacre – or Mother of Pearl, as most people call it.

Prices start at around $40,000.

Should you prefer a ‘proper’ watch as opposed to a tiny one hidden inside a bracelet, well, Van Cleef has got you covered.

The company has also upgraded the watches that are part of the same Perlée collection.

They’re made from 18k gold and available with a mother-of-pearl, gold or black onyx dial.

You can opt for a fabric strap that matches the color of the dial or a gold bracelet covered in beads.

The wristwatches are actually much cheaper than the bracelets, starting at ‘just’ $8,000.

About Van Cleef & Arpels

The company was founded by a Dutch diamond-cutter (Van Cleef) and a French jeweler (Arpels) in Paris in 1896.

It is still headquartered in the French capital, and it is currently owned by the Richemont luxury group.

The brand is mostly known for its jewelry but it has also manufactured some spectacular Van Cleef watches through the years.

In 2014, Van Cleef launched what is arguably the brand’s most iconic timepiece: the Midnight Planétarium.

Made from 18k rose gold, the watch features a spectacular dial with a miniaturized representation of the Milky Way.
