It turns out that nine out of 10 drivers are making this mistake…if you want to be the one who bucks the trend, turn on this Waze setting.

There’s pretty good odds that if you’re a driver, you’ve used Waze at some point.

You probably think you know the app inside and out.

But there’s still plenty to learn about it – including this setting, which can change your whole driving experience.

Turn on this Waze setting, and your driving experience will change

Although these navigation apps do their jobs 99 percent of the time, errors can creep in.

We’re talking about being taken down weird routes, dirt roads, and coming across unreported closures.

It’s annoying – but there’s a simple solution, as revealed on the YouTube channel, At Home.

First, head over to the top left of the Waze app and select the three lines that bring forth the drop-down menu.

From there, click on Settings and then head to General.

On there, click on Trip Suggestions and enable Show Route Suggestions and Receive Traffic Info.

“Thanks to this, Waze will always give you the best route based on traffic conditions and in real time,” the YouTuber explained.

“It will be in real time. So no more unexpected traffic jams, no more useless detours.”

But that’s not all.

Back on General Settings, he selected Refresh Map Of My Area.

“This will let you download the latest version of the map before calculating your route,” he explained, as he walked his viewers through this Waze setting.

“This way, you avoid roads that will be closed or route errors that have changed since the last map update.

“So I always recommend doing it manually before leaving. Normally it’s automatic, but by pressing here you can refresh the map of your area.”

Navigation apps are here to stay – but which is the best?

With the rise of Waze and Google Maps, the old road maps have become something of a museum piece.

But between the two apps, which one is generally considered superior?

It’s something all drivers have an opinion on.

One man looked into which app proved superior when it came to incident reporting.

When Apple Maps was thrown into the equation, drivers had a pretty conclusive answer.

And then there’s always the dark horse option that often gets overlooked in this debate.
