2 Fast 2 Furious is one of the most iconic car films of the modern era.

It is, in many people’s eyes, one of the best films in the entire Fast & Furious series.

To many fans, the cars in that movie are some of the most iconic in car cinema.

But they aren’t all exactly where you think.

2 Fast 2 Furious is still, to this day, a cultural icon of a film.

Instead of following Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, the film follows a different story entirely.

The movie centers on the late Paul Walker as ex-LAPD officer Brian O’Conner.

O’Conner competes in an epic street race in his 1999 Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R.

The race is organized by his friend, Tej Parker, played by rapper Ludacris.

Following the race, O’Conner is arrested by his former boss and offered a mission.

He recruits his estranged childhood friend, Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) to take down drug lord Carter Verone.

The pair work with undercover Customs Agent Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes) to take Verone down from the inside.

The film sees O’Conner and Pearce prove themselves as elite, lead-footed drivers for Verone.

Drug dealer Verone is ultimately taken down and arrested, with O’Conner and Pearce clearing their records.

The movie ends with O’Conner and Pearce leaving the scene, but not before taking some of Verone’s money.

As O’Conner famously says to Roman, “Pockets ain’t empty, cuz!”.

Aside from Walker, Gibson, Mendes, and Ludacris, the real stars are the cars.

Even more intriguing, given that the film was made 22 years ago, is what fate befell the cars.

The first, and arguably most important, car in the film is the Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R.

This legendary, blue-and-silver R34 Skyline GT-R might also be the most famous car from the film.

Franchise fans will be relieved to hear that the Nissan is safely stored under lock and key.

It’s currently owned by Universal Pictures, and is stored at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Like the Skyline, Roman Pearce’s 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS is also safe.

The car that O’Conner said ‘had too much chrome for me anyway’ is safe and sound.

In fact, it’s stored in the exact same place as the Skyline – at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Interestingly, the Eclipse came with an automatic transmission in real life.

It means that Tyrese Gibson was shifting between ‘park’ and ‘drive’ during filming.

Next up on the list is Brian O’Conner’s 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

You might remember this yellow Lancer Evolution from the iconic scene with Walker and Mendes.

While driving to Carter Verone’s mansion, Walker stares at Mendes while rapidly accelerating the Mitsubishi.

He does this before braking to a perfect stop at the traffic lights.

Unlike the other two cars, the Lancer Evolution is not under lock and key at Universal Studios.

Instead, it sold at a private auction for $46,200 over a decade ago.

Last up on the list is the iconic, bright pink 2001 Honda S2000 driven by Suki.

This – literally – unmissable Honda S2000, equipped with a custom VeilSide body kit, is also safe and sound.

However, it is also not currently stored at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

Instead, the Honda is on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

It was gifted by the Petersen family, specifically Robert Petersen himself.

And that is the list of what happened to the main cars from 2 Fast 2 Furious.

In the words of the late Paul Walker, you can now ‘forget about it, cuz.’
