Adding yet another subscription service to your ever-growing bankrolled social media activity, one person has claimed that stopping ad blockers and paying for YouTube is a no-brainer.

YouTube is quickly growing into a streaming platform that rivals the likes of Netflix and Disney+.

The platform, once used primarily by gamers and content creators, has since transformed into a hub for long-form documentary series, quick news blasts, and educational programs.

But, unless you’re using a dodgy ad blocker, you’re subjected to a terrible influx of adverts.

What paying for YouTube really gets you

YouTube has its quirks, but in 2026, it’s a hub for creators to earn huge sums of money with the right content – take KSI for example, whose colossal earnings were leaked on live TV.

If you can filter through the huge import of AI videos, there’s a lot of quality content on there, although they are safeguarded by at least three or four ads per video.

It costs $14 a month to remove ads. So, is it worth paying for YouTube?

Well, the first heavy-hitting feature is that you no longer have ads to contend with at all – even those annoying 30-second surveys or interruptions at the key part of your podcast.

Picture-in-picture mode and background play also fix the most annoying difference between YouTube and its main competitors, like Spotify and Netflix.

It also gives you enhanced playback performance to make your viewing experience crisper; Supercar Blondie in 1080p enhanced bitrate is a joy.

It’s a steep fee, though, in a time when Apple has set the bar for creative subscription services, and Disney+ is lowering costs.

Still, one person who recently made the switch is sold. Absolutely.

One user claims it’s so good they’ll ‘never go back’

Android Authority described the fee as ‘money well spent’, especially for those who are on the go.

And it’s still cheaper than Netflix.

“It’s an unquestionably better user experience compared to the ad-supported model, and you have the peace of mind that the channels you watch aren’t being ripped off – something that will never be possible with an ad blocker,” they said.

Ad blocker is becoming increasingly difficult to run with YouTube cracking down on these software.

So, it is either ads or a lighter wallet, and if you can only pick between a few subscriptions, paying for YouTube seems to pay off.
