Owning a Lamborghini Urus must be a pretty special feeling.

The world’s first Super Sports Utility Vehicle (SSUV) is an SUV that performs like a supercar.

Now, one lucky fan has been gifted an Urus by Colombian pop superstar Shakira, of all people.

And he has decided – almost immediately – to sell it.

Lamborghini Urus: Bologna Bulls go big

When it was first released in December 2017, it’s fair to say that the SUV turned more than a few heads.

For the company’s first-ever attempt at an SUV, they certainly haven’t done too badly.

It is the fastest SUV in the world, with a top speed of 194mph.

The Urus is powered by a 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 657bhp.

Interestingly, Lamborghini had to expand their production facilities at Sant’Agata Bolognese to meet demand for the Urus, which far exceeded expectations at Lamborghini HQ.

Lucky fan wins custom Urus – from Shakira

Recently, one lucky fan won a custom Urus, but decided almost instantly to sell it.

Michael Mejia entered a TikTok contest that coincided with the release of Shakira’s new song, ‘Soltera’.

To his amazement and surprise, he won the whole thing.

Naturally, snagging the 2022 Lamborghini Urus was a dream come true for Michael.

But it soon turned into a bit of a nightmare.

Michael explained in a Spanish interview that, to her credit, Shakira also gifted him $90,000 to cover maintenance costs, as well as transferring the title and covering legal matters.

However, it just isn’t anywhere near enough.

Michael explains that the beast has to be filled with fuel every two days, and it costs $70 per fill.

When you think about it, the costs of owning a Lamborghini really do start to pile up quick.

Michael decides to cash in his prize

Perhaps wisely, Michael decided to sell his custom Lamborghini Urus.

He told the interview that insurance for the Urus costs around $2,000 per month, which is a crazy amount of money.

Michael claims in the interview that he has received offers to sell the car in parts, such as the the tires and and the steering wheel.

“Someone offered roughly between $700,000 and $800,000. Can you believe it? That is wonderful. I think it’s anyone’s dream to have their million. A million and one dollar, I’ll be happy,” he added with a smile.

It’s fair to say that Shakira’s generosity might well pay off in a way that she never expected.
