Woman finds $250,000 Rolex inside her $25 couch

A Canadian woman hit the jackpot when she accidentally found a super expensive and rare Rolex inside her couch.

The couch was a thrift store item worth $25.

Well, we need to add a few zeros to the value of the Rolex she found.

The woman was watching TV when her phone slipped from her pocket and fell into the crevasses of her couch.

Upon retrieving her phone, she also found a watch that didn’t belong to her or any of her family members.

It was a Rolex, so it had to be expensive and valuable.

But after doing some research, she found out just how expensive and valuable it was.

The watch in question was a rare iteration of the Rolex Daytona, which is one of the most sought after watches in the pre-owned market to begin with.

A 1966 model, one of only 3,000 pieces ever built, the Daytona in question was worth north of $250,000.

She eventually ended up selling the watch to a Rolex reseller who gave her $250,000.

Talk about return on investment – she’d only paid $25 for the couch.

The Daytona, named after the eponymous car race, is arguably one of the hottest Rolex models at the moment.

Like so many other Rolex models, it is nigh on impossible to buy because demand outpaces supply.

So the price has gone mad in the pre-owned market in recent years.

Furthermore, the Daytona achieved ‘legendary status in the watch world in 2017, when Paul Newman’s very own Rolex Daytona sold for a staggering $17.75 million at auction.

Even though watch prices have cooled down a bit in 2023, Rolex Daytonas are still difficult to find and definitely not cheap.

Also because celebrities absolutely love it.

On average, you’re looking at a $50k price tag for a pre-owned model.
