A woman who purchased her first EV for $44k has opened up about the benefits she’s seen in just one month.

Claudia, the sister of YouTuber The Duke of Middleville made the switch to EVs with the purchase of a Kia EV9.

Appearing on her brother’s YouTube channel, she talked through some of the benefits she’d seen since ditching her gas car.

Her list was pretty extensive.

The perks of a Kia EV9 from a new EV owner’s perspective

One of the most immediate perks of switching to a electric vehicle was cutting down on trips to the mechanic for engine-related repairs, she said.

Admittedly, Claudia felt guilty about leaving her trusted mechanic behind.

This wasn’t the only way she was saving money either.

“We got $7,500 off [in clean vehicle tax credit] and the dealership had an additional $2,500 off,” she said.

That’s $10,000 off, leaving a final price tag of $44k.

This is admittedly not as cheap as this crashed Tesla Model 3, but it’s still a good amount to be saving.

The vehicle took some getting used to, insofar as starting it up was concerned.

“You forget how quiet it is. With gas cars, they’re a little loud and you get so used to it,” she said.

“I kept thinking [the car] wasn’t started, and lo and behold, it was running the whole time. But I couldn’t tell because it was so quiet.”

Had Claudia noticed any downsides to her new car in the first month?

“The biggest drawback is just getting used to gas versus an electric,” she said.

“I guess I was nervous about transitioning because you don’t have the availability for charging.

“But outside of that…just to be in this car and to feel how smooth it is [there aren’t any other negatives].”

Why this woman feels confident in her $44k purchase after one month

Claudia, who runs a catering business, expressed her appreciation that the car gets around St. Louis with no hassle.

She said she was looking to have a Level Two charger installed at her home for added convenience.

Currently, she charges up at a station near her home.

Claudia made mention of handy features that the Kia EV9 has, including outlets in the back.

These could be used to charge a laptop or even a fridge in the case of a power blackout.

All in all, she was satisfied with her purchase, having taken out a 10-year battery warranty.

In particular, she recommended it as being ideal for road trips, due to being very spacious.

The pros and cons of electric cars have been debated endlessly, with people falling on both sides of the debate.

One older couple found EVs too confusing after they purchased a Tesla Cybertruck, whilst a 83-year-old was left amazed by the technology.
