World’s fastest production car makes US debut
The world’s fastest production car is currently produced in China.
But people in the US haven’t had the chance to experience that fact.
For a variety of reasons, Chinese automakers are still absent from the US market.
Bu that hasn’t stopped one supercar enthusiast from bending the rules.
Richard Skelhorn recently brought his BYD Yangwang U9 to Miami, Florida.
Skelhorn has even claimed that this is the electric hypercar’s first appearance on US soil.
So how did the supercar owner actually get the world’s fastest production car to Miami?
Well, that’s actually quite an interesting story.
Because the car is technically a tourist in the US.
According to Skelhorn, he purchased the BYD Yangwang U9 in August.
But the car itself is actually registered in Dubai.
The Chinese-built EV is described as being merely a ‘tourist.’
So it has to leave the US after a period of one year has passed.
Of course, the world’s fastest production car comes with some serious numbers behind it.
Its four electric motors produce a combined 3,000hp output.
This is roughly 900hp more than the Rimac Nevera R.
Has the BYD Yangwang U9 shown the future?
Incredible setups like these showcase the future of the hypercar industry.
It can be argued that traditional horsepower is, in some ways, becoming obsolete.
In some ways, however, its party piece is that it can actually jump.

The U9 comes with BYD’s DiSus-X suspension system.
And this allows the car to physically hop off the ground.
Skelhorn was, of course, all too eager to showcase this impressive feature.
We can’t imagine that this is the last appearance the world’s fastest production car will make in the US.
