The world’s largest white diamond is heading to auction at Christie’s and it could be worth USD$30 million.
It is a 228.3-carat white diamond known as ‘The Rock’ and will be in Switzerland during Christie’s Luxury Week auction in May 2022.
Auction house Christie’s estimates The Rock’s value is between $20 million and $30 million, based on today’s rates. This isn’t surprising considering diamond prices are currently the highest they have ever been.

Rahul Kadakia, head of jewellery at Christie’s International, said: “The Rock will join the very best of legendary gemstones which have passed through Christie’s global salerooms since 1766.”
“The market for diamonds is particularly vibrant, and we are confident that this sensational gemstone will capture the attention of collectors across the globe this spring season,” he added.
Before the auction in Switzerland, Christie’s wishes to show off this piece to the public. It will first be displayed at Christie’s Dubai from March 26 to March 29; then it will head to Taipei and then Rockefeller Plaza in New York City from April 29 to May 1.
Finally, it will end up at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva for Christie’s Luxury week from May 6 to May 11.
