This American man was definitely suspicious he’d stumbled into a ‘too good to be true’ case when he bought this wrecked F350.
He got it at such a good price that he was on the look-out for a catch.
Because there’s always a catch, right?
Was this a case of misplaced cynicism or would this YouTuber’s gut feeling turn out to be correct?
Was this wrecked F350 Lariat a steal or a total dud?
Ivan and Michael, the hosts of YouTube channel Niko Brothers, snagged themselves a salvage Ford F-350 Lariat dually from an auction in Arkansas.
The winning bid was $11,400, which came out at $12,800 after fees.
This low price provoked suspicion – surely it was low for a reason, right?
After all, when we’ve seen cars going cheap in the past, there’s usually been a reason – just look at this McLaren 650S or this Porsche 911 GT3 for proof.
The truck’s value certainly won’t have dipped as much as Justin Bieber’s NFT, but that’s another story.

Upon first glance, it was evident that this truck would be a fixer-upper, owing in part to being extremely dirty and having side and rear damage.
But that wasn’t their primary concern – it was the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel engine they were worried about.
To get it up and running, they jump-started the truck with two battery boxes, which allowed them to get it onto the trailer.

It was evident that there was a lot that would need addressing, from missing bumpers and sensors to caked mud underneath the truck.
With 112,000 miles on the clock and a body in desperate need of a paint-job, there was no time like the present to get to work.

Could this truck be restored to its former glory?
The end goal here was to turn the F-350 into their new ‘shop truck’ to use for hauling trailers and campers.
Having purchased replacement doors in a matching color for $1,200, they’d saved themselves time on bodywork.
The bed would need to be removed in order to fix the wiring that had been cut and install a fifth-wheel attachment.

It also had the added bonus of making the painting process easier.
Fortunately, using a Think Scan 699BT revealed that they had a healthy engine to work with.
All in all, the two brothers were pretty optimistic about this project going forward.
The engine is actually in good state with no check engine light. That is awesome. Plenty of meat on the bone,” Ivan concluded.
“We’ll get this thing looking good… nothing we haven’t done before.”
