A wrecked supercar that was allegedly stolen and dumped in a North Carolina river is being restored back to its former glory.
The 1991 Acura NSX was in really bad shape after left sitting at the bottom of North Carolina’s Yadkin River for a long 16 years.
Fortunately, a diehard NSX fan bought it in 2023 with grand plans to restore it.
And the transformation is already remarkable.

Wrecked supercar to be restored by car repair specialists
The Acura NSX is an affordable answer to exotic cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini.
In fact, this now-wrecked supercar was once considered one of the best performance cars of all time.
Allegedly stolen in 2003, the 1991 Acura NSX spent 16 long years neglected in the river.
Its fate changed when car repair specialists from Helix Auto Works in Owings Mills, Maryland, decided to take a chance on it.
The shop specializes in NSX and other JDM platforms, so there isn’t a group more perfectly suited to take on the project.
Acura NSX restoration
Despite being in appalling condition, its owner Jay said restoration was still feasible.
But he was also practical about what was possible.
“We’re gonna try to either restore it or build a fun shop car we take to the track,” he said.
“It’s going to be a lot of work.”
The wrecked supercar also looks completely different after it has been washed and repaired to a certain degree.
And now, new images of the car (below) show it almost completely transformed.
Even the automaker is rooting for the restoration of this old Acura NSX supercar.
“It’s a shame to think this car was lost for over 20 years. We commend the new owner for taking on the restoration and hope to see this NSX back on the road one day.” a spokesperson for Acura said.
