Chinese EVs are some of the best on the planet, and now the Xpeng G7 EV has been put to the ultimate test.

The technology behind the car has been shown off like never before in extreme scenarios.

In each unique test, the car’s detection systems had to avoid obstacles and stay safe, all on its own.

And, after the tests were completed, the EV’s abilities were crystal clear.

Meet the Xpeng G7

Xpeng has become a leading force within the Chinese EV sphere thanks to its fleet of cars with clever features, but perhaps the most talked about is the G7.

Debuting with over 10,000 orders, the SUV promises to deliver a whole host of power and intelligent features.

So, in a bid to show off just what the car was capable of, Xpeng itself put the G7 to the test, with one huge twist.

The car’s windshield was taped up, and the AI feature shifted into gear in the ultimate blind exam.

The car had to pass four different scenarios, all while relying solely on AI.

First up was the three-lane cone avoidance, which meant that the car had to navigate its way around the objects without hitting any or knocking them over.

“I don’t think Tesla FSD can do that,” said the presenter as the car performed the task with ease, but that wasn’t the only victory.

Next up was the ‘extremely small object avoidance’ test, and this time, the Xpeng G7 needed to avoid a bottle of Coca-Cola.

“I don’t see anything on this iPad,” said the presenter as the camera out in front couldn’t detect the object from afar.

However, as the car edged closer, it came into view, and the G7 didn’t even come close to hitting the bottle of soda.

The last two tasks consisted of the car trying to avoid objects moving in the road, while driving at speed, and first up was a teddy bear.

“Thanks to its three Turing chips, it can avoid obstacles immediately in a split second,” explained the presenter as the car once again proved its power was a force to be reckoned with.

The result was clear – the EV knew its stuff

Finally came the challenge of avoiding moving debris on the road – something which many drivers have come across.

In this test, an item fell from the car in front, which meant that the Xpeng G7’s systems had to act fast.

The EV once again delivered and managed to avoid the obstacle quickly and easily, and after the EV was tested to the max, with ‘no eyes, just AI’, there was one outcome.

“I think we proved that the Xpeng NGP system is actually very impressive and handles all of [the] scenarios smoothly,” noted the presenter.

It’s no big surprise either, as the EV carries a sleek exterior and NGP system.

The NGP system was first debuted in 2022 on a pilot program, and made the manufacturer the first car brand in China to launch an advanced system to help in ‘complex urban driving scenarios’.

So, there you have it. AI is here to stay in the auto world, and it may just have your back one day.
