YouTuber Sam Chui once flew on the supersonic Concorde in his ‘ultimate flight’.

And he has recounted everything that happened on that day.

Concorde, of course, was capable of flying at supersonic speeds.

And the YouTuber in question has recalled what happened when he traveled at twice the speed of sound.

YouTuber recounts ‘ultimate flight’ on Concorde

Sam Chui has one of the largest aircraft-focused channels on YouTube.

His channel often focuses on explaining his various journeys around the globe.

But Chui’s videos also focus on some of the most iconic airplanes of all time.

And one particular video concerns the most iconic of them all.

A few years ago, Chui uploaded a video titled ‘My Ultimate Flight.’

And that flight, as the second half of the title explains, involved ‘Flying the Supersonic Concorde.’

The YouTuber started his video by explaining the history of the Concorde. He also explained that 2019, the year this video was published, marked the 50th anniversary of its first-ever flight.

But Chui reveals that he himself had actually flown on board Concorde.

April 17th, 2003, was the day he fulfilled his dreams. And it was British Airways flight 002 from JFK in New York to London’s Heathrow Airport

Chui even remembers that he was sitting in seat 12D, and that the take-off speed was much quicker than normal.

And shockingly, the journey took just three hours.

But the details just kept on getting better.

Chui remembers every single detail

Chui remembers hitting Mach 1, the speed of sound, at 28,500 feet.

The supersonic aircraft then hit Mach 2 at 48,500 feet.

Concorde then continued at Mach 2 for about two hours across the Atlantic.

According to Chui, the on-board service was better than most first-class flights of today.

Because it was a three-hour flight, a ‘brunch’ service was offered that included caviar.

Chui remembers feeling an incredible sense of pride after flying over Windsor Castle.

One thing you might be wondering about is the price of the flight itself.

Back in 2003, the YouTuber paid $3,000 for his ticket.

That, as he rightly pointed out, equates to about $1,000 per hour.

Was it worth it?

For Chui, it absolutely was – because there was nothing even remotely like it.

The remainder of the video sees Chui touring one of the Concorde units that’s now used as an exhibition piece.

And while Concorde may never fly again, Chui may well get another chance to fly supersonic.
