YouTuber Mark McCann is on a relentless hunt for the ultimate Bugatti Veyron, and the journey thus far hasn’t been easy.

With a seven-figure budget, it may not seem that difficult to pick one up.

But it turns out that Bugatti cars are so expensive that a $2 million budget doesn’t go very far, and he’s simply priced out of many options.

Along this epic treasure hunt, McCann learned that owning his dream hypercar demands as much patience as money.

The greatest Bugatti hunt you’ll ever see

McCann began his adventure seeking a black Bugatti Veyron owned by supercar dealer Carl Hartley.

It was the cheapest on the market at £1.35 million ($1.82 million), and well within budget.

McCann test drove it, fell in love with the classic sports seats, and felt the unmistakable magic of the W16 engine.

The YouTuber was so enamored by the Bugatti that he was even willing to sell his $1.6 million McLaren P1 for it.

Unfortunately, before he could seal the deal, another buyer swooped in, leaving him with a crucial lesson in being decisive.

Next, he viewed a silver Veyron (also belonging to Hartley), priced at £1.5 million ($2 million).

While it had significantly fewer miles on the odometer, it didn’t have the seats McCann wanted.

And for $2 million, he wanted to make sure he got a car that felt just right.

Not to be deterred, he went on a hunt for other Veyrons.

Unfortunately, collectors have been scooping up Veyrons from the market, making his task extremely difficult, especially with his tight $2 million budget.

McCann then expanded his search to the Chiron, the Veyron’s successor.

One particular Bugatti Chiron he saw boasted a 8.0L quad-turbo W16, delivering over 1,500 horsepower.

It can hit 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds, and is electronically limited to 261 mph.

However, at £2.7 million ($3.64 million), it was almost double the price of the Veyron.

The Chiron did have a financial advantage over the Veyron.

Running costs were significantly lower, given that it’s a much newer car that required less servicing, and it also didn’t require the custom wheels that the Veyron demanded.

Still, the up-front cost was a lot more expensive, and McCann also wrestled with whether he should compromise for reliability, or chase a classic icon.

Along his journey, McCann also explored several other Bugattis.

Some standouts include the Centenaire, an ultra-rare Veyron that is one of only four ever made, and even a Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang.

Both cars were obviously extremely rare and sought after, but McCann still didn’t feel like they were the right choice for him.

Then, when he tried to make a deal on the silver Veyron, he received another piece of bad news: it was sold.

As it turned out, trying to buy a Bugatti required plenty of patience, and disappointment came regularly.

He finally found his dream car, until he received a call

After weeks of searching and navigating the secretive world of hypercar ownership, McCann finally found something that ticked every box.

It was an ultra-exclusive Sang Noir Veyron, with only 12 ever built in the world, and even had full warranty from Bugatti.

Best of all, it was located in the UK, meaning McCann didn’t have to pay hefty import taxes on the car.

With exposed carbon fiber and a tangerine interior, every detail reflected the hypercar’s iconic status, and McCann loved it.

It seemed like the ultimate reward for the YouTuber, after his sheer persistence and grit.

Naturally, having learned his lesson from the silver Bugatti Veyron, he didn’t want to wait.

He was almost about to pull the trigger, when he received a call: someone found a much cheaper Veyron.

The only snag? It wasn’t driving, meaning the car needed to go through extensive repairs.

Perhaps this is a job for Mat Armstrong, who is currently working on his own Chiron Pur Sport rebuild.

In any case, those of you invested in Mark McCann’s story will have to wait for his next video to see what he does next.
