This YouTuber has issued a crucial warning about the key differences between Tesla’s 2026 and 2027 models.
In a self-described ‘massive PSA’, DennisCW laid out all you need to know about the changes afoot in the EV brand.
He wanted to make sure buyers knew which year model they were buying.
And here’s how you can know for sure if you’ve picked up a 2026 or a 2027 Tesla.
Tesla’s cars are constantly evolving
As a company, Tesla has been around for more than two decades now.
In those 20 plus years, there’s been a lot of change at the American carmaker.
Just take a look at the first Tesla Roadster – the modern version will certainly have a lot of differences with its predecessor.
Even technology within the same vehicle is constantly progressing.
One man took his Cybertruck out twice in one year using Full Self-Driving and was left stunned by the difference.

So when it comes to different models, you have to anticipate that there’ll be changes from year to year.
With that in mind, what differences can you expect to see from 2026 to 2027?
YouTuber DennisCW had the answers.
DennisCW is always giving his honest opinion on Teslas
In the past, Dennis has often shared his thoughts on all things Tesla.
Whether that’s his honest assessment of the Cybertruck after he sold his own, or his advice on what all new Tesla owners should be doing.

He’s amassed an audience of 63,000 subscribers through his honest delivery.
Now he’s warning them not to buy a new Tesla until they watch his recent video.
The key differences between Tesla’s 2026 and 2027 models
“You really shouldn’t be trying to buy one this week or even today, because if you are, there is a high chance that you will get a 2026 model, which might not have all the different features,” he told his viewers.
What exactly are the key differences he’s making reference to?
For a Model 3, this includes a 16-inch screen on every trim, a faster 0-60 time (3.8 seconds, down from 4.2 seconds), a black headliner on the Performance, and 19-inch Dark Nova wheels.

As far as the Model Y is concerned, the 0 to 60 drops to 4.3 seconds.
Changes that affect both models includes PowerShare functionality and vehicle-to-load functionality.
“Does this really matter in the grand scheme of things? Not really if you’re keeping the vehicle for like a long time, 5 to 7 years, but it does matter if you want to get the latest features, especially if you’re getting a Model 3,” Dennis said.
How to know what model you’ve got
And how can you tell what year model you’re getting?
Simply take a look at the VIN, which Tesla either sends once an order is placed or which you can request on the app.
If the 10th digit is a T, you’ve got yourself a 2026 model.
Should that digit be a V, it’s a 2027 model you’ve got on your hands.
Ultimately, every individual has the choice about what model year they want to take home.
But now they know what’s up for grabs, they can make a more informed decision.
