iOS 26 being slated as the biggest overhaul of the iPhone in decades.

Joining the new Apple takeover alongside the iPhone 17 and Air range, the software is radically changing the appearance of mobiles.

Best new features in iOS 26

With Apple revealing the iPhone 17, Pro, Air, and Pro Max, tech gurus have been hard at work putting the new products to the test.

Already, the ultra-thin iPhone Air has been defending itself against self-made mythbusters trying to test its durability, while the new brain of the iPhone, the A19 Pro, has posted up impressive numbers in independant tests.

The same goes for iOS 26, as immediately after it launched, some savvy experts reeled off a list of the best features available.

One of them was YouTuber ‘Proper Honest Truth‘, who ran through the software update in a new upload.

At the top of the pile are new Photos, Camera, and an overhaul to screenshots, making your image library much easier to handle.

Particularly, the screenshot cropping tool, screen capturing overhaul, spatial photos, and a refreshed Photos album layout have proven to be a massive improvement.

“The Photos app has seen a big improvement in iOS 26, with Apple keeping a lot of the things that worked well in the iOS 18 redesign while fixing some of the most common complaints,” he said.

Moving away from the lens, Battery & Power settings have been caught in 4K too.

While Apple has warned against certain habits that could deteriorate battery life, the Settings app will now show you how your charging routine can be optimized, showing a timer to reach 80 percent and 100 percent.

A new ‘Adaptive Power‘ cheat sheet will also give you the chance to extend battery life in high-usage times.

Then, there’s the dread alarms. A new Snooze Duration setting has been applied, which the tech expert claims is too ‘dangerous’ for himself, allowing up to 15 minutes of extra kip between new wake-up calls.

How to customize your iPhone after the latest iOS update

The rest of the cool features that you need to use with iOS 26 are all to help you express your personality through your phone.

The liquid glass has allowed for better wallpaper customization (including Live Photos), and a new Dark Mode toggle, which means you can automatically switch between different layouts depending on the time of day.

Finally, the App icons can also be customized, either being made ‘clear’ and giving you a frosted look at your wallpaper, or becoming one solid hue, taking away the blue of Meta and purple-on-black of Instagram for a universal color of your choice.

Buttermilk yellow is in. Or Pumpkin-spice orange.

All of these new iOS 26 features are solely based on your iPhone.
