This 100-year-old car hadn’t run since 1957, but that was about to change.

Originally bought for just $135, the car wasn’t in the best shape.

But, thanks to a kind-hearted gesture, the motor was brought back to life.

The restoration was captured in beautifully wholesome footage too.

It’s amazing what a bit of TLC can do to a motor – especially an ancient one.

Take this one for example, a Mercedes was given a new lease on life making its 94-year-old owner overjoyed.

And this abandoned Chevy was made as good as new for just $20.

But, we think this fixer upper may just take the crown.

Get ready to have your heartstrings pulled.

The Dodge Brothers car was 100 years old and was bought when the owner was just 16

As a surprise, this wife wanted to get her 88-year-old husband’s first ever motor up and running again.

So, as a kind gesture, the guys over at Fat Fender Garage worked to get it back on the road.

One of the guys detailed the 1924 Dodge Brothers Touring Sedan and were pleasantly surprised that it was ‘all original‘.

“This belongs to a good friend of mine, he bought this when he was 16-years-old, he’s now 88. this has been in his life longer than pretty much anything else that’s alive today,” they said.

Just wait until you see his reaction.

After a lot of work, the guys were able to start the beloved car again.

Although it was out of the owner’s site, it was within his earshot.

“I heard it but couldn’t believe it,” he said.

Upon seeing the motor restored, he was watching on in disbelief, when a family member said ‘your one wish was to drive the car, they fixed up the car and we’re all here. I say you get in the car and if it burns, it’s lived a good life’.

And, that’s exactly what he did.

To fulfil his wish, he was helped into the car and – well – his dream was alive and well.

Although it wasn’t completely roadworthy due to leakage and the engine overheating, it was still working, and the headlights and horn were functioning.

When he started the car up, it really was smiles all around – in fact we challenge you to watch it without shedding a tear.

He was off and took it for a little run, with a passenger in tow too.

“Look at that, that’s great,” his wife said.

The old man then explained how he drove it when he was just 16 years old.

Take a look for yourselves as the heart warming moment was caught on camera.

Speaking of tear-jerkers, this son spent two years restoring his dad’s 1946 Cadillac.

He wanted to have it up and running again so his WWII Veteran father could drive it one last time for his 102nd birthday.

The car had been sitting in their backyard untouched for more than 45 years.

His son tried to fix it before his dad’s 100th birthday, but the project took a lot longer than he bargained for.

Despite requiring extensive work, the restoration project on the old Cadillac was a huge success, and Walt got to get behind the wheel of his old car once more.
