This family in Ohio decided to restore an amazing 1962 Chevrolet Corvette after over 50 years.
Produced in 1962 and bought by its current owner 10 years later, this Corvette sat abandoned in a garage for so long thanks to an incredibly banal combination of factors.
And the story behind it was so simple, we almost couldn’t believe it.
Now, this ‘Vette is finally seeing the light of day again.

It’s amazing what a simple wash can do
Restoring a car can be a complicated process, but it all starts with a simple wash.
And it’s amazing what does sometimes.
WD Detailing built their YouTube channel around this – giving cars their first deep clean in years – and the results are almost shocking.

Even after just the basic wash, the transformation of these cars is always incredible.
As for this iconic Corvette from the 1960s, there were paintwork issues of all kinds, including scratches and nicks.
So it will need a cosmetic restoration, too, but this was still a great start.

How this 1962 Corvette ended up abandoned in a garage for ages
This car ended up in this garage in Ohio because of a combination of pure chance, bad luck, and neglect.
The grandfather bought this Chevrolet Corvette in 1972, and then, on the way home, the car ran out of gas.
Believe it or not, that’s exactly how the whole drama began.

The car ended up being left on an empty tank in the garage for days, and then there were insurance problems on top of that.
And that’s why days became months, and months became years.
Fast-forward to the 2020s, the grandfather-and-grandson duo decided it made no sense to have this classic and not use it, and so they decided to restore it.
And we’re certainly glad they did.
