This 1977 Chevrolet Caprice was bought with high hopes by a car enthusiast who had been eyeing it for years.
After seeing the car as a canceled restoration project in a classified ad a decade ago, he finally had the chance to buy it.
But when it arrived, it was a total disaster.
The car had been abandoned outside for years, missing its doors, and almost nothing worked.

1977 Chevrolet Caprice with unexpected condition
The YouTube channel Smells Like Gasoline posted a video showing the entire journey of this restoration.
The condition of the Chevrolet Caprice was a big surprise.
The paint was chipped in several places, and the interior was completely ruined.
The foam on the doors was ripped off, and the wiring was a complete mess.
The car had its engine swapped from an inline-six to a V8, but the engine never worked.
The electrical wiring harness was cut, and the engine was stuck and seized.
To make things worse, a lot of spare parts were missing under the hood, including the battery, torque converter, and timing cover.
Despite all these issues, the buyer was determined to bring the classic back to life.
He started by replacing the engine oil and reinstalling new spark plugs.
After fixing a few things, he decided to give it a shot to see if the car would start.
To his relief, the engine roared back to life after several attempts.
The gears were checked, and they worked smoothly, confirming that the car had some hope.
Giving a full restoration to the car
He then went for a complete restoration, giving the car a fresh coat of paint and replacing all the damaged and missing parts.
The transformation was amazing, and the car started to look brand new inside and out.
He even personalized the car with his YouTube channel name – Smells Like Gasoline – painted on the exterior.
From a rusted, abandoned wreck to a shining classic, the transformation was stunning.
