The 2025 Toyota 4Runner SUV is the first new version in 15 years – and it’s had a glow-up, both inside and out.

It’s the final step in Toyota’s plan to redesign its trucks and SUV family.

Known as the ‘five brothers’, the family includes the Tacoma and Tundra pickup trucks and the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia SUVs.

The overhaul debuted with the Land Cruiser and Tundra in 2021.

Toyota’s other redesigned trucks and SUVs have improved fuel economy, bringing Toyota’s larger SUVs up to speed with its fuel-efficient vehicles, like the Prius.

However, the miles-per-gallon ratings for the new 2025 Toyota4Runner will be released closer to its showroom arrival this fall.

On the surface, the 2025 Toyoya 4Runner SUV is reminiscent of the recently redesigned Toyota Tacoma pickup.

Look under the hood and you’ll see that the 2025 model will be offered with a hybrid engine for the first time.

The hybrid engine is a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with a 48-horsepower electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission.

It packs an incredible 326 horsepower and 465 foot-pounds of torque.

That compares to the standard turbocharged 2.4-liter engine’s output of 278 horsepower and 317 foot-pounds of torque.

Nine models of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner will be on offer.

These include the SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter.

The high-end Platinum model is aimed at convenience and luxury features.

Meanwhile, the new Trailhunter model targets off-roading with its rock rails and high-strength steel skid plates.

And the Toyota Land Cruiser has proven just how capable it is, as it climbed a terrifyingly steep incline.

And Toyota SUVs are known for coming to the rescue.

“This all-new 4Runner has incredible versatility and capability that nicely rounds out our truck family,” Toyota group vice president and general manager, Dave Christ said in a company statement.

“We’ve sold over 3 million 4Runners over the past 40 years, and this sixth-generation model offers a cool new look and incredible features yet retains the rugged style and capability our customers love about this adventure icon.”

Per CNBC, Jack Hollis, executive vice president of Toyota Motor North America said that mixing hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric models will help “curb carbon emissions fastest”.

Last year Toyota revealed an awe-inspiring, all-electric Land Cruiser concept.

Pricing of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner will be released closer to its on-sale date as it leaves the production line at the Toyota Tahara plant in Japan.

After gaining her BA Hons in French and English at the University of Nottingham, Amelia embarked on a vocational diploma from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). This led to numerous opportunities, from interning at Vogue to being on the small team that launched Women’s Health magazine in the UK, which was named the PPA Consumer magazine of the year for three years running. As Health, Beauty and Fitness editor, Amelia personally received a Johnson & Johnson Award and was shortlisted for both PPA and BSME titles. Since then, Amelia has created content for numerous titles and brands, including the Telegraph, 111 Skin, Waitrose, Red magazine, Stylist, and Elle, as well as being Head of Content at Vitality and Editor in Chief at INLondon magazine. “My superpower is translating technical jargon about the mechanical workings of a supercar into a relatable story you’ll want to share with your friends after you’ve read it.” After joining the SB Media family as a senior journalist in September of 2023, Amelia’s role has evolved to see her heading up the SEO output of the editorial team. From researching the most ‘Google-able’ key terms to producing evergreen content - it’s been a time of hard work, growth, and success for the editorial team and the Supercar Blondie website. “I like to think of myself as a ‘method journalist’. In other words: I live and breathe whatever I am writing about. When writing about fitness, I trained as a personal trainer, and as a beauty editor, I completed an ‘expert’ in scent diploma with the Fragrance Foundation. “During my tenure at Supercar Blondie, however, I did something I never thought possible: I passed my driving test at the age of 36. One day I’d love to train as a mechanic to better understand what happens under the hood, too. “My sweet spot is providing readers with a ‘takeaway’ (read: something new they didn’t know before) after reading every one of my stories. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the automotive world, I know the experts and bodies in the field to rely on to provide our readers with an informative and thought-provoking story every time they visit the site.”
