The new 2026 BMW iX3 SUV has kick-started the company’s bold new era, as the 463hp EV debuts the German car manufacturer’s Neue Klasse EV platform.

The Neue Klasse cars of the 1960s and 1970s made the brand what it is today, and it is one of the most important names in the history of the brand.

Now, the Neue Klasse name is back, on a new version of its best-selling SUV as the iX3 rides on BMW’s all-new Neue Klasse EV platform.

The company is promising big things with this car, which will sit alongside the regular X3, with the new SUV expected to cost at least $60,000.

The 2026 BMW iX3 boasts some impressive figures

The bold new era for the manufacturer looks to have started strongly.

This new electric SUV boasts some very impressive figures.

It sits on the company’s first 800-volt architecture, enabling rapid charging speeds.

The iX3 charges up to 400kW, meaning you get 230 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

That is some way of Chinese EVs’ rapid charging times.

But the SUV is now one of the fastest-charging electric cars money can buy in America.

Not only are its charging times impressive, but so is the range and power level.

BMW says the new car will have two electric motors in iX3 50 xDrive form.

That means the SUV will boast 400 miles of range.

Those two electric motors will give the car 463hp and 473lb-ft of torque.

The new iX3 is the start of a bold new era

Since it started making electric cars, most of the BMW EV range has been based on platforms designed for electric and internal combustion vehicles.

However, this can have its drawbacks.

The platforms are often compromised by the need to suit two very different types of powertrains.

The Neue Klasse platform, however, is 100 percent dedicated to electric vehicles.

BMW has the freedom to do whatever it wants on this new platform.

The iX3 looks to be a promising start to this bold new era.

The company has also worked to simplify the internals, using fewer, but more powerful computers to control the vehicle’s functions.

There is still some lag between the iX3 and Chinese electric cars.

But of all German manufacturers, BMW has switched to electric vehicles the best so far.

Hopefully, that upward trend continues with the new 2026 BMW iX3.
