50 Cent once spent more than $1 million building one of the most unique celebrity cars to ever hit the roads.

The rapper – whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III – is renowned for his love of cars.

He’s been linked to a Bugatti Chiron, a Maserati MC12, and a Bentley Mulsanne.

Joining those lofty ranks is ‘White Lightning’, arguably one of the most remarkable celebrity cars we’ve ever seen.

Even by the standards of rappers, 50 Cent is renowned for his love of cars

Rappers are legendary for loving all things expensive and flashy, and that certainly extends to cars.

Whether it’s Jay-Z and his 1-of-3 Rolls-Royce or Stormzy and his $534,000 Ferrari, there’s no shortage of pricey wheels in this occupation.

In that sense, 50 Cent fits right in.

Having built up a successful brand as a rapper, he’s further supplemented his fortune with a brand of vitamin water.

He’s amassed enough wealth that he has a different car he can drive on any day of the week.

Now that’s a flex.

But seemingly not satisfied with the cars he’d already accumulated, the rapper took things one step further.

He decided to invest his money into a ‘jet car’.

And we’re not talking a paltry sum here either – this is some serious expenditure.

He spent more than $1 million on this custom car

A few years back, 50 Cent invested approximately $1.5 million into a custom-built F1 style car.

Built by Parker Brothers Concepts, a company that created several movie cars and prototypes in the past, there’s no doubt that this was an ambitious undertaking.

From the inside out, this car was built entirely from scratch.

At the heart of the vehicle – named White Lightning – is an electric powertrain capable of 400 horsepower.

On the face of it, this car certainly looks distinctive.

But leaving aside the aesthetics, this car was something of a mistake for 50 Cent.

Here’s why White Lightning proved to be an expensive mistake

Despite the cool factor attached to the car, 50 Cent ultimately ended up selling the car.

That’s not too bad – after all, many people end up selling cars further down the line after purchasing them.

But considering he sold it for less than a tenth of what he spent to create it, we can chalk this one up as a costly misstep.

Admittedly, he’s made so much money that he might not even mind this short fall.

And to be fair to 50 Cent and White Lightning, EVs often don’t fare well against depreciation.
