Heidi Klum may be in the running for mom of the year after she gifted her son a $300k red Ferrari F430 for his 21st birthday.
And this was no impulsive purchase either.
This was all based on a bet that Henry had won back when he was 14.
And this is no ordinary bet either – it revolves around a certain Nintendo game.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity has splashed out on a car as a gift
In the opulent world of celebrity, we’re used to seeing famous faces splash out huge sums on their cars.
One need only look at A-Listers like Cristiano Ronaldo or Drake for proof of that.
But then there are the celebrities who give out cars as gifts.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is renowned for this, having given out vehicles to his stunt double, his dad, and his uncle.
He even gifted his own personal truck to a man who overcame homelessness.
It’s enough to make you wish you were related to the former WWE star if this was his standard protocol for gift giving.
But it’s not just Johnson who is dishing out cars as gifts.
Heidi Klum has recently made headlines for a Ferrari shaped gift she bestowed upon her son, Henry.
Why did Heidi Klum give her son a Ferrari F430?
Many American teens can expect a special present on their 21st birthday, and Heidi Klum’s son is no different.
Henry – the child of Klum and her ex-husband Seal – had won a bet seven years earlier that has sealed the car in his destiny.
What was the nature of this bet?
He’d beaten his step-father Tom Kaulitz at Mario Kart.
In a video shared to Klum’s Instagram page, he explained the premise of the bet.
“If I lose Mario Kart then I can’t play video games for three months and I have to give Tom a painting of me driving a Lamborghini. But if I win, then Tom has to give me a Ferrari when I’m 21,” he said.
This was all done under the premise that he would have his driving license obviously.
Ten Mario Kart victories later and Henry had bagged himself a Ferrari.
If only the rest of us secured such a prize after success on that game.
At any rate, Henry was ecstatic to have his new set of wheels waiting for him out on the driveway.
“This thing is beautiful, oh my god,” he said, in stunned disbelief.
“This thing is crazy.”
