This YouTuber brought back to life a Porsche Boxster that hadn’t been driven in over a decade.

He got the iconic roadster for all he could draw from a cash machine: $900.

It had been sitting outside for 12 years without a roof or windscreen, so he wasn’t expecting a success story.

Amazingly, the Porsche still managed a highly successful test drive.

The filthy and abandoned Porsche Boxster

YouTuber Harry Dewhurst, the man behind Cash Machine Cars on YouTube, found this 2010 Porsche Boxster at a local yard.

He challenged himself to pay only what he can draw in one go from a cash machine; in this case $900.

That’s considerably less than the man who got his Boxster for $2,400.

Dewhurst immediately realized he’d bitten off a lot more than he’d bargained for, noting that the Porsche Boxster had begun to morph into a Spyder owing to the previous owners’ taste for DIY.

He cleaned up the interior, which was swamp-like thanks to the car not having a roof or windscreen for the past 12 years.

Next, he got started on the windscreen and bravely inspected the situation under the hood.

A surprisingly simple save

There are worse ways to find a Boxster—just ask those who discovered an abandoned one with snakes living in it.

Dewhurst got started by replacing the windscreen and rewiring the headlights.

He had to use headlights from a 2012 Porsche Taycan, which proved tricky to connect to the Boxster’s old wiring.

Next, he bought a new alternator for about $130, which allowed him to get the engine started for the first time in over ten years.

He took the Porsche for its maiden voyage down the road, expecting the worst, considering he hadn’t addressed any of the car’s other issues.

But he was able to easily hit second gear with the engine running smoothly and fairly quietly.

Now he just needs to get the exterior looking as good as the Porsche’s engine sounds.
