Bulgari's new $440k watch is 'world's thinnest'

Bulgari has dropped a new watch and it is the thinnest mechanical one ever made.

It’s called the Octo Finissimo Ultra and its sandblasted titanium case is just 1.8mm thick.

And with its bracelet a mere 1.5mm thick, the manufacturer has declared it “the world’s thinnest mechanical watch”.

The Octo is 40mm in diameter, and has a sandblasted titanium case and bracelet, allowing it to be classy yet rugged – like an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

Features on the dial include hour and minute regulator displays, and visible clogs. Covering them is sapphire glass, which adds to the elegant effect.

Each Octo Finissimo Ultra ships with a custom-made watch winder box that replenishes its 50-hour power reserve and regulates timekeeping.

Speaking of the dial, something you may have noticed is that it appears to be sporting a QR code and you wouldn’t be wrong. That’s right, this timepiece comes with its own “exclusive” NFT, according to Bulgari.

When scanned, the QR code leads owners to a whole host of feature interviews, making-of segments and a virtual 3D tour of the movement, as well as original NFT artwork.

While this might be one of the most impressive watches ever made, it sure does carry a hefty price tag at 440,000 USD a pop, with Bulgari making just 10 units.
