The world’s first 4-wheel-drive hypercar is officially here.
Introducing the Prodrive Hunter – the $1.6 million off-road hypercar with 600hp.
It’s essentially a four-wheel-drive hypercar designed for high performance driving, from desert sands to mountain tracks.
Its body is made entirely of lightweight carbon fiber composite, which includes recycled materials.
Other features include a steel chassis with double-wishbone suspension (like seen on the new Porsche 911 GT3) with twin adjustable dampers.
The vehicle rides on a bespoke set of 35-inch wheels made specifically for off-roading.
British car designer Ian Callum helped to create the interior, making it as comfortable as possible for everyday driving.
In order to do this, he added carbon fibre seats with six-point safety harnesses and a dual fire extinguisher system for safety. The driver changes gear with a six-speed paddle shift that replaces the former racer’s clunky manual gearbox.
The Prodrive Hunter is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 that produces an impressive 600hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.
All this allows the Hunter to reach its top speed of 185 mph and go from 0-62 mph in under four seconds – which is impressive considering it weighs 1,850kg.
There is currently just one in existence and it belongs to Bahrain’s Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
However, Prodrive plans to build 25 units over the next two years, each priced at $1.6 million.
