Mononofu is Guinness World Records' largest humanoid vehicle.

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you.

This is Mononofu, it holds the Guinness World Record for the largest humanoid vehicle – standing at 27 feet 9 inches (8.46 metres) tall, 14 feet (4.27 metres) long and just over 13 feet (four metres) wide.

So it’s properly impressive, and massive.

Mononofu, which means “samurai warrior” in Japanese, was designed by Masaaki Nagumo, an engineer who works for Sakakibara Kikai, to look like the protagonist of the iconic anime Mobile Suit Gundam.

It weighs more than seven tonnes and took about six years to build, with one of the biggest challenges being how would Mononofu be controlled.

So they build a lift to take its pilot to the cockpit.

“We were thinking of around five to six metres. But because we wanted a cockpit, that height will not be enough,” Masaaki told Guinness World Records.

“It was important to have a cockpit, as well as good balance such as arms and legs in relation with the body.”

In fact the robot was so big it was too tall to take outside unless you took off its head to get out of the warehouse where it was built.

Despite being so heavy, it actually moves, albeit a bit slowly at less than 1 mph.

On top of that, you can also control the movement of his arms and fingers, and it can shoot sponge balls at 87mph.

Haven’t you always wanted to build a robot? Well, this guy certainly made it big. Literally.
