Elon Musk is skeptical about artificial intelligence (AI) and he has expressed his views on the subject on several occasions.
Mind you, the tech mogul has probably come to terms with the fact that AI can’t be stopped, which probably explains why he’s starting his own artificial intelligence company dubbed X.AI.
As the saying goes, ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’.

Some people may not know this but Elon Musk actually co-founded OpenAi, the company behind the AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT.
However, Musk has since decided to walk away from the project and recently co-signed a letter calling for a stop to AI development.
So why would somebody who’s worried about AI actually start an AI company? We’re not sure.
It’s unclear what he intends to do with this new AI company since the CEO of Tesla never misses an opportunity to bash AI.
In a recent interview, Musk warned that “AI has the potential of civilizational destruction”.
In another video (below), he expressed his concern about AI’s outstanding learning rate.
The clip is quite long but you can skip to the juicy part (minute 3:05) where he talks about an AI-powered computer program called AlphaGo.
According to Musk, even this relatively old technology showed AI’s exponential learning rate.
“In the span of 6 months, [AlphaGO] went from not being able to beat a reasonably good chess player to beating the world’s best player and Europe’s best player simultaneously,” Musk said.
Musk further notes that AlphaGo Zero, the upgraded version of AlphaGo, was then able to beat its predecessor 100 times in a row.
Aside from launching his new AI company, Musk has also launched a new company called X to replace Twitter.
This is part of his plan to turn Twitter into an ‘everything app’, similar to China’s WeChat.
