Private buyers and car dealers routinely stock up on limited-edition supercars to resell them at a profit but a Japanese dealer in Tokyo is taking this practice to a whole new level after listing a Bugatti Centodieci, which hasn’t even been built yet.

TPE Limited, located in Tokyo, recently listed the Centodieci for a cool $14 million.

It’s listed on a Dutch luxury marketplace called ‘James Edition’ with a price tag of 12.5 million euros ($14 mln), nearly 3 million more than the sticker price of €8 million.

The car is advertised as ‘new’, EU-spec and located in Bologna.

The description says it’s a ‘1 of 10 Bugatti Centodieci order slot’ with delivery scheduled for January 2023.

The Centodieci (Italian for ‘110’) was first announced in 2019 as a tribute and spiritual successor to the EB110, and to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the French hypercar brand.

Only 10 units will be built.

The Centodieci will be powered by Bugatti’s iconic quad-turbocharged W16, putting out 1,600 hp and 1180 lb-ft, enough to propel to 60 mph from standstill in just 2.4 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 240 mph.

Bugatti was founded in 1909 in then-German city of Molsheim, Alsace (modern-day France), by Italian car designer Ettore Bugatti.

The brand has lived a million lives and has been resurrected time and time again.

It is now part of the VW Group and soon to be merged with Rimac – the Croatian EV supercar maker and battery manufacturer – to form Bugatti-Rimac.

The Veyron was discontinued in 2015 and the Chiron was introduced one year later, in 2016, which means the Centodieci will almost certainly be the last new Bugatti to be launched while VW is at the helm, before the transition to Bugatti-Rimac is complete.
