Johnny Depp castle

Johnny Depp is reportedly going to buy a castle in Italy.

Located on the hills of Mount Crovero in the north of Italy, the castle is the stuff of dreams.

And it’s actually a tiny bit less expensive than you might think.

Johnny Depp is certainly doing well financially, after the multi-million dollar contract he signed with Dior, and after winning the lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

This explains why he’s reportedly able to spend over $5 million on this fancy Italian castle.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Johnny Depp fell in love with the castle, known as Castello Montalto Dora, while filming Modí – a biographical drama film life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani – in Turin, which is a stone’s throw from the castle.

The property spans 22,000 square feet and includes 11 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a massive courtyard, and a chapel dating back to the 15th century.

It also incorporates a smaller castle and farmland.

It should be noted that even though it is for sale, Montalto Dora Castle is under the protection of Italian Cultural Heritage and therefore, even if Depp bought it, he wouldn’t be able to change anything about the castle.

The mayor of Montalto Dora, the village that lies at the foot of the castle and that technically incorporates the land where the castle is built, made it clear that even the smallest change would require planning permissions that would be difficult to obtain.

This wouldn’t be Depp’s first unusual purchase either.

The 60-year-old actor also owns a village, literally an entire village, in France, and he’s been trying to sell it since 2015.

The castle is for sale for €4.8 million – equivalent to $5.15 million at today’s rate.
