Most classic cars neglected for years don’t often hit the road again, but this 1950 Studebaker Champion isn’t most cars.
This Studebaker was left to rot, abandoned a long 40 years ago.
But now, it’s getting a new chance at life.
The old classic was also hiding a nice little surprise for the guys restoring it.

Studebaker Champion abandoned for 40 years
In a recent video from the YouTube channel bah53, this 1950 Studebaker Champion looked like it had hit rock bottom.
It was partly sunken into the ground and covered in dust and several other interesting bits and pieces.
It certainly wasn’t in a good condition.
Time can be brutal on classic cars like this, as is evident from this abandoned 1974 Chevy C10 truck.
And this pair of Mustangs that had their paint worn off after 40 years in hiding.
Naturally, 40 years inside a barn also left this Studebaker in less than ideal-condition.
There was plenty of rust and some rotting, but it was nothing that couldn’t be fixed.
The YouTuber who took on the project also revealed a silver lining when he showed the state of the interior.
First wash in four decades reveals a surprise
Not only was the interior in pretty good condition, but they discovered the gas tank was also still intact.
To top it off, they also found a stock 170 cubic-inch inline-six engine.
These engines don’t have a reputation for having remarkable performance but are known for being super reliable.
After its first wash, this old Studebaker was on its way to looking pretty again.
Would it run perfectly again? Nobody could say for sure until the restoration was finished.
But at the very least, it would make for an excellent piece in a classic car museum.
After all, most cars parked in collections like this one in Italy don’t hit the road.
So if and when it does get a proper restoration, it will be incredible.
Speaking of incredible restorations, someone’s dad got a chance to restore a Champion, and it turned out to be a pretty wholesome story.
