An Airbus A330 looks suspended in the sky, a rare moment where airspeed outpaces ground speed in high-alpha flight

An amazing video shows an Airbus A330 airliner looking as though it’s suspended in the air, during a high-alpha flight.

The footage emerged on Reddit, and showed the Airbus in flight. And it looked as if it were hovering like a helicopter during the display at the UK’s Farnborough Airshow in 1994.

But it was actually showing airspeed vs groundspeed in the high-alpha maneuver with the nose up.

You normally wouldn’t expect to see an airliner do this maneuver, so it is pretty cool to see it – check it out in the video above!
