Ramy RC, an American YouTuber and RC pilot, spent months building a large-scale Boeing 787, but its long-awaited flight at the airfield ended in disaster.

He’d poured five months into the replica all to get it ready for this run.

At first, it was perfect. For a moment it really did look like a Dreamliner in miniature.

Then, in seconds, it all came undone.

The spectacular RC Boeing 787 flight that went up in flames

Conditions were perfect.

There were clear skies, and the wind was nowhere to be found.

All signs pointing to this being the day to ‘relax and enjoy’ the Dreamliner

And for a while, it looked like he was right.

The plane tracked straight, banking with surprising grace, and its low passes looked almost cinematic.

But then came the turn.

The RC Boeing 787 went too steep, with not enough speed.

The wingtips stalled and the plane dropped like a stone.

Seconds later it hit the ground, hard enough to ignite on impact.

Ramy sprinted toward the wreck, trying to kill the batteries, but the damage was immediate.

Flames, smoke, melted wiring.

“It’s toast,” he admitted, watching five months of work burn in front of him.

Only the retracts and wheels were left in one piece.

Five months gone in two seconds

The crash destroyed five months of work in just seconds, but the pilot shrugged it off as part of the RC game.

“Sorry guys, I feel sad, I know you feel sad too, but that’s the spirit of the hobby,” he said.

In this world, crashes aren’t just possible – they’re inevitable.

And it’s not the first time an RC project has flirted with disaster.

Just recently, a US YouTuber unveiled a $20,000 RC jet and almost destroyed it in a terrifying near-miss with live power lines.

Others push their builds to extremes on purpose.

One builder created an RC jet capable of pulling off out-of-this-world manoeuvers at over 100mph, complete with fire-breathing thrusters and vertical hovering.

Compared to those, the RC Boeing 787 crash feels less like failure and more like a rite of passage.

At least the farmland beneath this one was left untouched.

Weeks later, Ramy checked back to confirm no crops had been harmed.

A small win after a fiery loss.
