These American guys have transformed China’s worst car – the Chang Li pickup truck – into an off-road beast.

They had previously made it 28 times more powerful but the front end didn’t hold up very well.

The car even flipped during testing due to its stock front end.

So now they are adding a four-wheel drive and better suspension to the car to make it off-road capable.

Turning China’s worst car into an off-road beast

This impressive project was done by folks at Grind Hard Plumbing Co, who make crazy cars out of a small garage in the woods of North Idaho.

They took two 28,000-watt motors for this project and put them in China’s worst car.

The Chang Li is also the cheapest pickup truck in China, available from Alibaba for just $2000.

With such a price point, it doesn’t have the best parts.

So the team over at Grind Hard Plumbing Co. decided to take the front end of a K-truck and use it on the Chang Li.

They built a proper frame for the car to accommodate proper suspension and steering.

We also tried out the Chang Li pickup truck in 2022 and were quite amused by its design and cost.

They test the steering alignment once the front suspension is welded into place.

However, they accidentally flipped the JDM steering rack so the tires are turning in the opposite direction of the wheel.

They finally go for a test drive but the car has no brakes and reversed steering, which creates some chaos.

After some fixes, China’s worst car is finally ready to take on off-road terrains with its four-wheel drive.

The car proves to be quite capable of climbing steep climbs and uneven terrain.

However, some tweaks are still needed to perfect this ambitious build.
