The next version of Apple’s iPhone software, iOS 27, isn’t far away, and there are plenty of new features being added to Apple CarPlay.
iOS 27 is due to land on our Apple devices next month, which also means it’s time for some updates to CarPlay.
It looks like plenty of exciting new features are coming, which should make things even better for drivers.
These are the features being added that you can expect to see in Apple CarPlay with the new iOS 27 software.
Siri AI is a big part of iOS 27

The new, more capable and smarter version of Siri is a key part of the iOS 27 update.
Hands-free conversations can be conducted thanks to the improved assistant.
All conversations with Siri in CarPlay will also now sync to the Siri app on your iPhone as well.
Voice Control
All the app categories will now offer a voice control option, which wasn’t the case on the previous version.
There is now an option to integrate a voice control template into apps for conversations.
New audio features
A new feature is a persistent mini-player, which we will be able to access through the Now Playing feature.
This shows artwork and playback controls in the top right corner of audio apps, while a progress bar is now included in the Now Playing interface in CarPlay.
New wallpapers for iOS 27 CarPlay

CarPlay will now feature the new iOS 27 wallpapers, all of which have been formatted for the car software.
There are 14 options available, and the new software will also support larger content thumbnails.
Updated Liquid Glass icons are also available for apps such as Maps and Weather.
Language improvements
The tech company has also worked on language improvements within CarPlay.
This has been extended to navigation in Maps, making it easier to ask Siri for directions, avoiding things such as toll roads and highways.
Route data
Google Maps and Apple Maps can now share route data with your vehicle.
This can include where to best stop off for EV recharging, or for any required rest stop.
Location accuracy is improved in iOS 27

Apple has also worked on improving the accuracy of the GPS within the navigation system.
The tech company has also tried to ensure Wireless CarPlay is more reliable.
Video apps are coming in iOS 27

The latest Apple CarPlay will now include video browsing capabilities.
While you are parked, you will be able to browse and watch videos on the car’s infotainment system while you are parked up.
Naturally, video playback is blocked when you are on the move.
