The new Apple iPhone 17 is turning heads, not just for its sleek design and upgraded features, but because it’s actually cheaper to buy than the Google Pixel 10.
Yes, you read that right. The iPhone, historically the ‘luxury’ smartphone, has undercut Google on price.
For years, Apple has carried the reputation of being the premium, high-cost option, while Pixel was positioned as the more affordable alternative.
But with the iPhone 17’s launch, that familiar script has been completely flipped.

The iPhone 17 starts at $799
Apple’s latest flagship was unveiled with plenty of buzz, featuring an even thinner chassis, improved battery life, and a camera system that makes everyday snaps look like professional shots.
The surprise wasn’t just in the hardware, but the price tag: the iPhone 17 starts at $799.

While the Google Pixel 10 also starts at $799, that’s only for the base 128GB version.
The base iPhone 17 comes with 256GB of storage, so the fair comparison will be to the Google Pixel 10 256GB, which costs $899.
For long-time tech watchers, the $100 disparity is a genuine plot twist.
After all, iPhones have traditionally sat comfortably at the top of the pricing pyramid.
Of course, it’s not all about the numbers.
The Pixel 10 still comes loaded with impressive features, including Google’s latest AI tools baked directly into the operating system, like instant voice-to-text transcription and advanced photo editing.

Apple, meanwhile, leaned into its ecosystem strength, offering seamless integration with Macs, iPads, and Apple Watches.
While the two devices trade blows on specs, the bigger story is that Apple has somehow positioned its iPhone 17 as the cheaper flagship option at launch.
The Google Pixel 10 may get discounted in the future
Of course, it’s important to note that Pixel phones are known to get discounts, sometimes just weeks after release.
Apple, on the other hand, almost never cuts the price of its latest iPhones until the next generation rolls around.
In other words, while the Pixel 10 might eventually dip below the iPhone 17 in cost, anyone shopping on launch day will pay less for Apple’s new device than Google’s.
Of course, that’s only for the flagship models.
If you’re looking at Apple’s new iPhone Air, which is touted as the thinnest and most durable iPhone ever, that starts at $999.
And if camera features are your thing, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max starts at $1,099 and $1,199 respectively, so get ready to open your wallet.
