Apple is not-so-subtly dropping major hints about its next big mobile release, as a range of its latest features are all pointing in one direction: the iPhone Ultra.

The tech giant has been dominating the headlines this week as war rages on against Epic Games in a multi-million dollar armwrestle to block Fortnite mobile, while it also detailed exciting new automotive advances.

But all of this could be a smokescreen for the next iPhone.

The long-awaited iPhone Ultra could be just around the corner as the Pro Max gears up to hand over the reins.

Apple’s tech team has been making quick headway in 2025, already announcing the 16e, which finally put an end to one iconic feature that was a mainstay from 2007.

More projects seem to be in the wings, too, as a revolutionary iOS update could drastically change your entire iPhone aesthetics, and a Face-ID-led doorbell is reportedly on the way.

However, Apple has just slapped the ‘Ultra’ moniker into play for the third time with the next-gen CarPlay that has been rolled out in Aston Martin cars.

Now, the Ultra title could be coming to the next iPhone.

After years of seeing Apple buff its standard releases with ‘Pro’ and ‘Se’ spinoffs, it now looks nailed on that the Ultra suffix will be coming into play soon.

The Ultra release has been touted for some time, after experts like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claimed that the company was set to adopt this name following the release of the iPhone 15.

With the iPhone 17 on the horizon, it’s likely that we’ll now see an Air, Pro, and Ultra variant rolled out.

Of course, Apple could go off on a tangent and completely defy logic and patterns.

And considering that there are also reports of Apple rolling back the years with a flip phone, the days of these suffixes could soon become dormant.

Still, if other tech giants like Xiaomi are using the same tag, the iPhone Ultra appears to be a distinct possibility.
