The new Apple iOS 26 has had its first update, and it comes with important bug fixes and security updates.

Apple announced the latest version of the iPhone operating system in June this year.

It was released on September 15, to coincide with the launch of the new iPhone 17 range and the iPhone Air.

A couple of weeks on, Apple has announced  26.0.1 is out, and it comes with important updates.

Here’s what the update will fix

Despite its name, iOS 26 is actually the 19th operating system for the iPhone.

The latest version is supported by the iPhone 11 onwards.

But if you want to make use of Apple Intelligence, you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.

Updates to operating systems to fix bugs and potential security issues are common.

Which is why just a couple of weeks on from its launch, iOS 26 is getting an update.

The company says the updated iOS 26 will fix a number of issues, including connectivity problems on the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, and an annoying bug when using tinted icons.

Release notes alongside the updates confirmed there would be fixes for the following issues:

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth may occasionally disconnect on iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models
  • A small number of iPhone users may be unable to connect to a cellular network after updating to iOS 26
  • Photos taken under certain lighting conditions with iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro models may include unexpected artifacts
  • App icons may appear blank after adding a custom tint
  • VoiceOver may become disabled for some users after updating to iOS 26

With the new update installed, the problems mentioned above should be sorted.

What’s new on iOS 26?

If you haven’t yet updated to Apple iOS 26, it comes with a bunch of cool new features, including Apple’s Liquid Glass, which gives your menus, buttons, and icons a ‘translucent’ look.

There are also several changes on iMessage, with Apple Cash now available in group chats and messages from anonymous texters being sent to an Unknown Sender folder.

You can also customize the backgrounds of chats, and there’s an option to create polls in group chats.

Apple has also introduced Call Screening and Hold Assist, making taking and handling calls a whole lot easier.
