A 2008 Tesla Roadster has popped up for sale with just 1,821 miles on the clock – basically delivery mileage – after 17 years.

Finding any first-gen Roadster is rare. Finding one in this condition? That’s collector-lottery stuff.

It’s now listed on Exotic Car Trader, a carbon-fiber time capsule waiting for someone to scoop it up.

Blink, and some other EV enthusiast with a climate‑controlled garage will grab it first.

This Tesla Roadster is basically new

This is where Tesla’s story really began: the original Roadster

Light, quick, and essentially a Lotus Elise in an EV suit, it sent 248 horsepower and 200 lb‑ft of torque to the rear wheels, good for 0‑60 mph in about four seconds.

For an electric car in 2008, that was seriously quick.

Its battery tech felt like magic back then, too  – a 53kWh lithium-ion pack that could go 244 miles on a charge.

Plug it into a 240-volt outlet and it added about 56mi of range per hour. By today’s standards that’s modest, but in 2008 it was groundbreaking.

Hop inside and you’re met with tan leather seats, a JVC nav unit straight out of the late 2000s, and a delightfully simple gear selector with just three buttons.

There’s even a 13,000-RPM gauge, a nod to its Lotus roots, that’s basically decorative – but it makes the dash look like a race car.

Why the Tesla Roadster is so special

Tesla only built 2,450 of these between 2008 and 2012, selling them online, in 13 showrooms, and even over the phone.

Most of them have been driven, modded, or just plain worn out.

This one? It’s a showroom time capsule. 1,821 miles in 17 years makes it one of the cleanest examples on the planet.

It’s currently up for grabs on Exotic Car Trader, but if you want it you better act fast because cars like this don’t sit around for long.
