This historic 1984 C4 Corvette VIN 001 with a NASA-style dashboard has gone on sale, with just 277 miles on the clock.

Everything about this C4 screams the ’80s, down to its red leather interior.

And as an ’80s movie once said, this car feels the need, the need for speed, thanks to the Cross-Fire Injection V8 sitting under its hood.

With basically nothing changed and only 277 miles on it, this car is basically brand new, yet old-school cool at the same time.

This 1984 C4 Corvette comes with a NASA-style dashboard and a whole lot of charisma

The C4 Corvette represented a massive shift from previous generations of Corvette.

This particular car was purchased new by an enthusiast who reportedly trailered it home, stored it in a climate-controlled garage, and drove it conservatively over the following decades.

No wonder it looks showroom new.

Original features have been retained, including the paint and the interior.

But the real star of the show is the NASA-style dashboard.

Instead of traditional analog dials, this C4 featured a vacuum fluorescent display, that shows the speed in large digital numbers, alongside readouts for oil pressure, fuel, and temperature.

Back in 1984, this was a big deal – analog needles were used back then, so this looked really futuristic for the time.

The car is in top-quality condition, with a V8 engine capable of producing 205hp and 290Ib-ft of torque.

And get this – the VIN 001 wasn’t just the first of its kind, but it was also distinguished from the 51,546 that followed it in other ways.

It didn’t leave the factory as an ordinary sale.

How much might this car be going for?

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time this particular C4 Corvette has made a splash.

Earlier this year, the WD Detailing team gave it a clean after it’d spent quite a while going unwashed.

They spoke to the owner’s widow about the car, and discovered he’d taken out a second mortgage to buy it.

“[When I found out, he said] ‘Oh, it’ll be a good investment’,” she recalled.

“I was like ‘Okay’.

“He always said the car was an investment, but when the time came for him to want to try and sell it, then it was never sold.

“He didn’t try to sell it after that, we would take it around on a trailer and show it.

“That stopped because he got really sick, so it’s been sitting in the garage.”

Well, it’s going up for sale now, and the starting bid is $25,000.

The auction closes on November 8, so don’t miss out on a chance to take home a little piece of sports car history.
