This rare 1971 Ford Bronco has been transformed into the ultimate small motorhome, and it’s proving a point.
The Ford Bronco was a hugely popular off-roader in the 1960s and 1970s, and the Blue Oval revived the model in the 2020s to much acclaim.
In the 1970s, however, automakers and producers of RVs met in the middle to combine the two, which is where this stunning 1971 Bronco comes in.
A product of Four Wheel Campers, this period-correct Bronco showed us that you didn’t need massive trucks or RVs to enjoy the great outdoors.

What makes this 1971 Ford Bronco so special?
The SUV came from Four Wheel Campers, a company founded by Dave Rowe in the 1970s.
At the time, those who wanted their own off-roading camper would have to invest time to create their own custom build.
What makes this Bronco so special is that it was one of the first to be produced by an external company.
Plus, it was also a pioneering vehicle.
What it offered was a camper that could easily slide onto the rear of a standard pickup truck or SUV.

The rear of the 1971 Ford Bronco was the perfect platform for this solution.
Eventually, the company’s range included a huge line of new truck campers.
It continues to produce them in 2025.
This is a rare gem from the 1970s
While the vehicle was produced by the company until the 1980s, its custom nature made it a rare beast.
In fact, only up to 100 were ever produced during this time period.
The camper is made from an aluminum structure, meaning not only is it strong and durable, it’s lightweight too.
That means it wasn’t too heavy for its own good, nor would it bog the Ford down in mud.

As it is attached to the roof structure, no crazy modifications were required on the original car.
Inside, there is enough room for a bed, stove, sink, and sofa.
There are a few more features, too, such as an electrical system.
This example appeared on Bring a Trailer recently, and whoever bought it got themselves a rare 1970s gem.
