A new Italian manufacturer called Automobili Rodrigues is working on an internal combustion supercar that comes with staggering powertrain figures.

This coach-built hyper GT is available with two engine options, and neither is electric.

There’s a 900hp V12 option that’s somehow the ‘base’ model.

And there’s only one question people are asking.

Automobili Rodrigues is building an 18-cylinder engine for this car

Automobili Rodrigues is working on two engine options for the Berlinetta Veloce, which is what this hyper GT is called.

As standard, you get a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 with 900hp.

If that’s not enough for you, you can opt for a valveless, turbocharged, and supercharged 9.0-liter 18-cylinder engine.

They call it the ‘Triangolare 18’.

Triangolare is Italian for triangular, so it’ll be interesting to find out more about the engine layout.

More to the point, an 18-cylinder powertrain makes the engine of a Dodge Viper or a Bugatti Tourbillon look small.

Apparently, it’ll produce 1,954lb-ft of torque, and it’ll be available with stick shift.

Production is expected to be limited, and each car will cost seven or eight figures, depending on how you spec it.

There’s only one elephant in the room

In the past, you’d have needed resources and at least a semblance of a plan, even if you only wanted to unveil a virtual concept.

Now, especially with AI, it doesn’t take much to introduce a concept that ends up being forgotten about or scrapped.

To be clear, we’ve always had vaporware and proposed concepts that never made it to production, but there are definitely more now.

Every time there’s a new concept, people always jump to the comment section and ask the inevitable question: ‘Cool, but when?’

As of early 2026, the car has been ‘unveiled’ as a design study with specific price tags in the region of $5-$10 million, but hopefully, there’ll be a driving prototype soon.
