A 1960 Maserati 3500 GT sports car barn find has recently surfaced, and it looks pristine, but the engine is going to need some work.

Barn finds are some of the coolest cars you can find, and barns, garages, or storage facilities can often find quite a few gems, ranging from classic cars to some abandoned supercars.

In Eugene, Oregon, Vintage Underground Restorations found a Maserati 3500 GT that had been in hiding for over 30 years, and it looked like it was in perfect condition.

However, this Italian icon had an engine that needed a lot of work, with the six-cylinder under the hood spending its time since 1992 in boxes!

When the 1960 Maserati 3500 GT went into the barn

The story behind this particular barn find car is quite a familiar one.

This Italian classic was on the road up until around 1992, when the tags expired on the coupe.

Since then, it has sat in its barn waiting for its time to shine again.

The reason for its parking in the first place was due to an oil pressure issue.

The owner was attempting to fix the car, as he had pulled the six-cylinder engine out of the Maserati sports car.

However, life sadly got in the way.

A few years ago, the owner passed away.

His widow then decided it was time for the car to find a new home.

It will now be sold to someone with the time and money to restore it.

What’s next for this gorgeous Italian sports car?

The silver car was in gorgeous condition.

Only a basic polish was needed to get the car back to showroom condition.

Even the red interior has been preserved well, helped by the car’s years in dry storage.

The engine, however, is the main sticking point for this particular Maserati.

The engine is in several pieces, and the video on its discovery reveals that it is missing the pistons as well as the connecting rods.

Thankfully, the YouTubers and restoration team don’t think finding the spare parts will be a problem.

The good news is that this Maserati is going to be restored to full running order.

Just 2,226 of these cars were made, so they are pretty rare now in 2025.
