This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250S was left gathering dust in an old barn for decades before it was rescued and put back on the road.

The Mercedes-Benz 250S had spent years in a barn in Texas.

But it was hauled up and placed up for sale on eBay.

The Mercedes was then snapped up by a father and son for just $800, and turned out to be a total bargain.

The 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250S barn find

We love seeing an old vehicle get a new lease on life after years off the road, like this Corvette that was given a clean for the first time in 30 years, or this stunning Ferrari that has undergone a complete restoration

But in the case of this 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250S, the car was actually in pretty great condition despite being stashed away in a barn since 2006.

The bodywork was in solid shape, while the interiors looked as though the car had just rolled off the production line.

Under the hood, it had its original 2.5-liter M108 inline-six engine that could produce up to 128 horsepower.

It was snapped up for the bargain price of just $800, by the car loving father and son duo behind the Rugged Wrench YouTube channel who were determined to get it up and running.

Somewhat incredibly, once hooked up with a fresh battery, electric pump and given some fuel the engine roared to life.

The brakes needed to be replaced, but other than that the old Mercedes was a true testament to the incredible engineering behind it.

Of course, as you might have expected it didn’t exactly run smoothly and it got off to a bit of a rough start, but within days of buying it the YouTuber was able to get it out on the road daily.

After being back on the road, the 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250S had a few niggles, like a missing brake hold-down spring that began rattling around, but these were fixed up pretty quickly.

The Mercedes was an absolute bargain

A classic Mercedes-Benz 250S can fetch a decent price at auction, with Hagerty suggesting an ‘excellent’ condition example could go for as much as $18,000.

Even project cars, like this one, that are up and running can sell for upwards of $4,000 – meaning this $800 model was an absolute steal.

And best of all, it’s back on the road, where it belongs.
